News roundup–Net-a-Porter, Asda, more

Luxury-apparel etailer Net-a-Porter is entering
the Chinese market with the acquisition of
Shouke.com, a Hong Kong-based fashion website.
The site will become part of Net-a-Porter’s outlet arm
The Outnet.

Supermarket Asda has appointed Richard Mayfield
as chief financial officer, replacing Judith McKenna who was
promoted to chief operating officer in September 2011. Mayfield
joins from John Lewis Partnership, where he is
currently director of the shared services division, responsible
for financial, information technology, human resource and
procurement services. He joins Asda later this year. Asda also
confirmed that Rob McWilliam, who’s held the post of chief
financial officer an acting basis since September, will take on a
broader role as strategy director, supporting David
Cheesewright’s EMEA team and Asda on business development
projects in the UK and EMEA region.
