Game has been rescued out of administration by
investment firm OpCapita, which bought electricals retailer
Comet for £2 earlier this year. The assets
of collapsed game, including 333 stores, will transfer to Baker
Acquisitions Ltd, an OpCapita vehicle. The deal saves the jobs of
nearly 3,200 Game employees, and will seek to reemploy a small
number of head office staff. Game appointed
PricewaterhouseCoopers as administrator on 26th March. The
administrators immediately announced the closure of 277 stores in
the UK and Ireland, shedding 2,074 jobs. Commenting on the
acquisition, OpCapita’s managing partner Henry Jackson said
“we strongly believe there is a place on the high street
for a video gaming specialist” and in order to turn Game’s
fortunes around, a strong team has been assembled “to
implement the programme of operational change that is
needed”.
Apparel brand Aquascutum has been put up for
sale by its owner Harold Tillman, reports The Mail.
Zulily, the US-based daily deals site for mums,
officially launched in the UK this morning. At its UK helm is
Kristine Kirby, formerly eCommerce and multichannel marketing
director at Monsoon Accessorize.

Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley and a couple
who’ve been trading under the name of Sport Direct.
