ASOS has released another robust trading statement revealing that in the three months to 30th November, total sales rose 40 per cent to £166 million. This included a better-than-expected UK performance, which saw UK sales grow 24 per cent to £62 million. International business grew by 34 per cent to £103.7 million and now accounts for 63 per cent of total retail sales. During the first quarter, ASOS opened in-country offices in the USA, France and Germany.
William Rollason, a trained accountant and a former director of collapsed hampers firm Farepak, is alleged to have “failed to act in accordance with the Institute of Chartered Accountants ethical code” while at Farepak, reports the Telegraph. Rollason faces disciplinary action by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC). Allegations include that he misled fellow directors about the financial stability of Farepak’s parent company, European Home Retail, where he was chief executive, and that he issued a misleading statement about the company’s ability to support Farepak. He is also alleged to have signed off financial statements in 2005 that he knew were misleading.
