John Lewis, B&Q make top appointments

Two of the UK’s best-known retailers have made investments in
their direct departments with top appointments to drive their
online and multichannel arms.

Department store John Lewis has hired former CollectPlus and eBay
boss Mark Lewis as its online director. Lewis is tasked with
leading the online team and developing John Lewis’s
“omnichannel” offer.

Omnichannel is also a focus for DIY chain B&Q which confirmed the
appointment of Michael Durbridge as director of omnichannel, a
new role. Durbridge is currently director of direct channel sales
and marketing at Vodafone and joins B&Q in March, reporting to
Steve Robinson, customer director. Robinson is also a fairly new
recruit; the former M and M Direct boss was formally appointed to
B&Q this past summer after working for the business on an interim
basis.
