Movers and shakers–March 2012


Home Retail Group, the owner of Argos, Homebase and Habitat, has
named former Best Buy executive John Walden as
managing director for Argos.

Mark Newton-Jones is stepping down from his role
as chief executive of Shop Direct Group. He will remain with the
business, which operates the Littlewoods, Very and Isme
catalogues, until July 2013 to ensure a smooth handover.

Feelunique.com appointed Harper’s Bazaar beauty director
at large Newby Hands as editorial director.
Hands retains her position at the magazine. Victoria
Chalmers
joins Feelunique to head the PR and
communications function.

Specialist maternity and nursery retailer Mothercare appointed
Simon Calver as its new chief executive officer.
Calver, formerly vice president and general manager of home and
small business in the UK and Ireland at Dell Computer Corporation
and most recently chief executive at Amazon-owned DVD-rental
business Lovefilm, joins the Mothercare board on 30th
April.

Supplier people
Affiliate network LinkShare appointed former CNN International
marketing and sales director Mark Haviland as
chief commercial officer. Based at Linkshare’s UK office,
Haviland will be responsible for the growth of new
business.

Reevoo, a provider of social commerce solutions, has hired
Mireia Fontbernat as chief marketing officer.
The former marketing director for Oracle will look to drive
Reevoo’s international expansion plans.

Rob Minns
, formerly sales director at integration
services provider GXS, has joined logistics and fulfilment
services firm MetaPack as sales and business development
director.

Media agency The Specialist Works announced that Dylan
Jenkins
, former head of home shopping and retail at
customer insight, data management and antifraud services business
Transactis, has joined the firm to head up the customer insight
business, a new division of the company. Andy
Bryan
, former head of customer management at Freemans
Grattan, has also joined the customer insight business as head of
analytics.
