Upscale fashion etailer Net-a-Porter increased sales
by 47.8 per cent to £81.5 million in the 12 months to 31st
January reports the FT. Pretax profit rose from £3 million
to £10.1 million during the period.

At its annual general meeting, TV-shopping business Ideal
Shopping Direct told investors that it was “cautiously
optimistic” that the business will return to profitability
in the medium term. Sale rose in the first 21 weeks of the fiscal
year, up 2 per cent on the comparable period in 2008.

Sales at automotive accessories retailer Halfords
dipped 0.3 per cent to £794.7 million in the year to 3rd
April, representing a like-for-like decline of 3.3 per cent. The
good news, however, is that pretax profit increased 2.4 per cent to
£92.4 million.

Homewares cataloguer Lakeland has appointed a design
and marketing agency to start work on its Christmas packaging
materials, writes Lakeland Echo.
