Some major shareholders in parcel carrier TNT have
advised against the company’s buying a 30 per cent stake in
Royal Mail. According to Financial Times, they fear that an
investment “could leave the company with neither an exit
strategy nor the degree of control necessary for it to turn the
business round”.

Building supplies merchant Travis Perkins
“announced a fully underwritten £300 million rights
issue to reduce its debt burden and allow it to take advantage of
acquisition opportunities,” The Guardian reports.

Nearly 30 per cent of web users still do not shop online,
according to an Office of Fair Trading report cited by Which? Of those nonshoppers, 30 per cent
said they mistrusted online shopping, and 20 per cent said
security fears prevented them from making web purchases.
