Tesco has met analysts’ forecast and posted a profit
rise of 11.8 per cent. The supermarket made £2.85 billion
in 2007 reports the BBC. Following on from today’s announcement
The Telegraph publishes a history of Tesco
which charts its progression from a groceries stall in the East
End of London to the retailing giant it is today.

Organic food delivery company Abel & Cole and
retailer/cataloguer of organic body care products Neal’s Yard
Remedies have been recognised at the Soil Association’s Organic Awards 2008. For
Abel & Cole this is the second year running it has received
this award.

Department store Debenhams has unveiled a drop-in
interim profits and a negative like-for-like sales figures
reports

. However, Citywire.co.uk puts a positive spin on the
story announcing that Debenhams’s share price was rising,
buoyed by strong growth in its online business.
