Department store House of Fraser has confirmed that it
is indeed in talks with Icelandic investment firm Baugur Group
about a sale, reports Hemscott News. Baugur’s UK investments
include multi-brand retailer Mosaic Fashions and toys
cataloguer/retailer Hamleys. It already owns a 9.8 per cent
share in Fraser.

Argos is readying its first catalogue for India, reports
How-Do, following its partnership with
development firm Raheja Group in that country last year.

DRTV company Ideal Shopping Direct confirmed it has
received an approach reports Thomson. Sale speculation lifted Ideal’s
shares by 7 per cent on Thursday 14th February.

The Guardian’s Lost in Showbiz blog has a rather sarky
entry on La Redoute’s Celebrity Mum of the Year
competition. The shortlist, voted on by 12,000 consumers,
includes such worthies as Scary Spice, Posh Spice, Baby Spice
and Ginger Spice-“but surely, the real fight-off must be
between Heather Mills McCartney and Kate Moss”.
