Having failed to find a buyer to take it over as a going
concern, Woolworths will begin closing its 807 stores
after Boxing Day, and all stores will be shuttered by 5th
January, reports the Financial Times. An estimated 27,000 jobs,
22,000 full-time, will be lost.
Cdiscount, a £900 million French etailer, has
launched a UK website. The company says the site’s sales in
France are three times those of Amazon.fr, reports MediaWeek.
