Headline of the week, from Channel Register regarding Dell’s
decision to offer more retailers the option of selling its
computers as it shifts away from its direct-to-consumer model:
“Dell tells channel: You’re not just a bit on the
side.”

“Christian Rucker and family” were number 16 on
The Telegraph’s “Made It by 40”
list of the UK’s top young entrepreneurs. Rucker founded the
£49 million White Company, a cataloguer/retailer of
home decor. Her husband, Nick Wheeler, is head of £47
million apparel cataloguer/retailer Charles
Tyrwhitt.

Two major US cataloguers, personalised gifts mailer
Lillian Vernon and gadgets cataloguer/retailer Sharper
Image, have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection,
reports Portfolio.

Confectioner Thorntons grew its half-year catalogue
and web sales nearly 26 per cent, to £5.3 million for the 28
weeks to 12th January, reports The Independent. Total sales and
profits both rose 14 per cent for the same period.
