First-quarter sales within PPR’s Redcats
catalogue division were down 7.4 per cent on a comparable basis
and 5.4 per cent on a report basis from last year. Online sales
rose 6 per cent, to account for 45 per cent of Redcats sales. In
the UK, Redcats titles include La Redoute and
Daxon.
“The internet will be the main retail channel for book
sales in Britain within three years, despite accounting for only
14 per cent of current sales,” according to The Bookseller, citing research from PubTrack.
