News roundup—23rd February 2009

Fashion cataloguer/retailer Fat Face is turning to its
“equity cure” fund after having come
“perilously close to breaching the terms of its loan
agreement,” according to The Telegraph.

Even as the Danish and Swedish post offices express interest
in buying a stake of Royal Mail, 139 MPs have signed a protest
against the government’s plans to sell a share of the
organisation as part of its modernisation plan, reports
The Guardian.

Financial Times has lunch with Johnnie Boden at
the Boden headquarters. The article is no more revealing
than any other Boden interview (including the article that
appeared in the 28th August 2007 issue of Catalogue
e-business
), but the accompanying caricature is highly
unflattering. A sidebar about how today’s catalogues are about
“selling the dream” references Toast, The White
Company, Kays, Littlewoods, and Next.
