Littlewoods Direct parent company Shop Direct
Group has warned 280 call centre workers, including 30
employees in Powys, that they will be made redundant unless
they agree to work different shifts or retrain for new
positions, according to the Shropshire Star. Workers in its Preston
call centre will be affected as well, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.

The Advertising Standards Authority has rapped John
Lewis for an ambiguous price claim in ads for a Nikon camera,
PC Pro reports.

Another rising cost for merchants: Mastercard
transaction fees have increased from 0.005 per cent of each sale
to 0.0235 per cent, according to The Telegraph.

Oh dear. Even online behemoth Amazon.com has lowered
its full-year revenue forecast, to $18.46-$19.46 billion
worldwide. According to The Times, analysts had been projecting
sales of $19.52 billion, and in July, Amazon had forecast
annual revenue of $19.35-$20.10 billion.
