The Quelle catalogue division of insolvent German
retailer Arcandor was granted a €50 million
government loan, according to Dow Jones. The loan still needs to be approved by
the EU, but that is expected to take place today.

“Plans to inject capital into Royal Mail that would
avoid the need to sell part of the postal group have been
discussed by senior Labour MPs and ministers in recent weeks,
The Times has learnt.”
