Online sales at Marks & Spencer for the 13 weeks ended
28th March were up 20 per cent from the previous year. Total sales
for the same period were also up, by 1.9 per cent. UK
like-for-likes fell 4.2 per cent, but that was less than expected.

Annual profit before tax at Laura Ashley tumbled from
£15.8 million for fiscal 2007 to £9.6 million for the
year ended 31st January. Online sales soared 65.4 per cent, but UK
like-for-like sales declined 6.2 per cent.

DHAIS, the parent company of Hearing Health and
Mobility, has acquired mobility goods retailer/cataloguer
Keep Able out of administration.

French online discounter Cdiscount introduced a UK
site in December–but The Times is only now reporting on the
launch, contending that the site’s operations since December
were only a test.
