News roundup–consumer campaign launches to improve delivery rates, JML promotes Daly to CEO, more

“Money saving expert” Martin Lewis yesterday launched
a campaign on ITV1’s Daybreak programme urging customers to know
their rights when it comes to failed home deliveries. The aim of
the “Stand and Deliver” campaign is “not to
punish delivery firms, but to teach them we won’t be trodden on,
so they need to keep service standards high,” says Lewis.
It encourages consumers to take up any delivery issues with the
retailer first and complain of inadequate service.

Richemont, the Swiss luxury-goods firm that
operates Dunhill, Chloe and
Net-a-Porter, said that in the year ending 31st
March operating profits rocketed 51 per cent to €2.04
billion (£1.63 billion), while sales rose 29 per cent to
€8.87 billion (£7.07 billion). Announcing the results,
Johann Rupert, executive chairman and chief executive officer,
said etailer Net-a-Porter “continues to enjoy sales growth
above the group average, while at the same time investing in
structural expansion”.

JML has promoted Ken Daly to chief executive
officer with immediately effect. Daly has been the TV shopping
specialist’s group managing director since 2007 and his remit
covers all aspects of JML’s global operation including DRTV,
retail distribution, online, catalogues, studio rental and
distribution partnerships. The managing directors of JML’s
businesses in Benelux, central Europe, Singapore and the Far East
all report directly to him.
