US-based vintage and handmade products marketplace Etsy.com has appointed Nicole Vanderbilt as UK country manager. The former chief executive of Mydeco.com, Vanderbilt is tasked with growing the business in the UK and accelerating the company’s international expansion following its $40 million investment earlier this year. As well as expanding the UK team, Etsy is launching new site tools and features including updates to the Etsy iPhone app, to better appeal to UK and European audiences.

According to the Times, the Dixons name will be axed from tomorrow. The electricals retailer told the newspaper that it did not “see a place for Dixons.co.uk where we have our Currys.co.uk and PC World UK”. The retailer shuttered Dixons’ high street presence six years ago.

Also from the Times, online grocer Ocado is distributing a printed catalogue within its product despatches to its most frequent customers. Starting on Wednesday, 150,000 customers will receive a catalogue promoting pet accessories, gardening equipment, toiletries, toys and health products.

Sky News reports that Kevin Stanford, the founder of All Saints, has been sacked as the retailer’s chairman “following a long-running dispute with its controlling shareholder” Lion Capital. It is understood that the private equity firm is now seeking to secure a deal to acquire Stanford’s 15 per cent stake in the business.

Chain Reaction Cycles reported sales of £136.5 million, an increase of almost 25 per cent, but pretax profits fell to £10 million following investment in people, writes the Sunday Times.

A review of Argos, due to be published later this month, is likely to focus on “the next incarnation of its successful internet operation”, reports the Express’s financial column. The paper notes that more than 42 per cent of Argos’s £3.8 billion sales are now generated online and it has the UK’s second most popular website after Amazon. The piece also writes that a revamped Argos website, “the fruit of an earlier review”, will be unveiled on 16th October.

Barbour reported profits of £17 million, an increase of more than £5 million on its 2010 figures. The Independent looks at the brand’s appeal.

Children’s furniture specialist Great Little Trading Company has relaunched its website. Among the new features are “create the look” pages, designed to inspire visitors as well as “sort by bestseller” functionality on category pages.

Online jeweller Astley Clarke also unveiled its new website, as well as five new jewellery collections designed by the Astley Clarke team at its design studio.
