A new study by Deloitte says Facebook added more than £2.17
billion to the UK economy and supported 35,200 jobs in 2011. The
report suggests that Facebook has a £1.14 billion impact
through what it terms “business participation
effects”. These include commercial Facebook pages for
companies to promote their brand, raise awareness, advertise and
generate new business. This “business participation”
enabled by Facebook supports 18,400 jobs in the UK, says
Deloitte.
