Following the disposal of all its retail brands including Flying Flowers, Garden Bird Supplies, Listen2, Garden Centre Online and Gardening Direct businesses, as well as the closure of its growing and live despatch business, Flying Brands has announced that finance director Stuart Dootson and chairman Tim Trotter are stepping down as part of the restructuring. Currently, Flying Brands’ only income comes from the rental of various parts of Retreat Farm, but a company statement confirmed there have been talks about “bringing other businesses into the company”. Losses narrowed from £1.7 million to £1.1 million in the 26 weeks ended 29th June 2012.

French retailer Decathlon has been linked to a potential bid for JJB Sports, writes the Daily Mail. However, it notes that any bidder will likely wait for JJB to be placed into administration to
avoid taking on its debts.

Tea specialist Ringtons, which was founded in 1907, has launched an online shop, reports the Mail’s This is Money website.

UK-based fashion brand Internacionale has launched its first online shop, complementing its network of 140 bricks-and-mortar outlets. The retailer selected Amethyst to provide it with distribution and fulfilment services for its eCommerce operations.

The Independent has a list of the 50 best online clothes stores. Awear leads the budget section, while Vestiaire Collective is name-checked in the vintage section.

The Sunday Times reports on the new Marks & Spencer store in Cheshire, which has sales assistants equipped with iPads, six 70-inch TV screens showcasing the latest styles, 12 “iPhone-like” devices for customers so they can order items not in stock at the store and an interactive screen in the home section allowing customers to choose the perfect bedding.
