Mamas & Papas, the maternity and nursery products retailer, said further expansion in the UK and overseas will see it return to profit this year. The Telegraph writes that the Huddersfield-based company reported a loss of £1.6 million on sales of £135 million in 2011.

Also from the Telegraph, luxury retailer Fortnum & Mason delivered an 8 per cent sales rise to £54.9 million and pretax profits of £1.1 million in the year to July, compared with a loss of £5.9 million in 2009. The positive results were achieved despite protesters occupying the store in March. In its statement, the retailer also acknowledged an IT hitch in December, saying it will continue to invest in its new ordering system “and ensure that we do not have the same delivery issues that we had this Christmas”.

Ted Baker is celebrating a good performance over the Christmas period with a 15.7 per cent increase in retail sales for the eight weeks to 7th January. Following the government’s
decision to scrap LVCR
, Jersey Post has announced it will put up stamp prices later this year to compensate for lost revenue. The Telegraph has more on the story.

Waterstones. No apostrophe. The Guardian says it’s not such a big deal.
