Fears over the future of JJB Sports have
increased after the sportswear retailer revealed it had failed to
secure the funds needed to overhaul its stores. The company
announced it has put itself up for sale and that any interested
buyers should contact its adviser KPMG. JJB has debts and
outstanding loans of around £36 million.

Amazon has rivalled daily deals website
Groupon with the launch of its own daily deals
website AmazonLocal, which was rolled out in the UK this week.
The BBC reports that the AmazonLocal website will
email geographically-relevant offers to users every morning and
offer reward points to those using an Amazon credit card.

According to the Financial Times Swedish retailer
H&M is set to expand into South America by
opening a flagship store in Santiago, Chile, during the first
half of 2013.

In more international-related news, Reuters has announced that French retailer
Carrefour is planning to cut up to 600 jobs in
France as part of plans to cut costs and put the struggling
company back on track.
