News roundup–Lush, Isabella Oliver

Natural cosmetics retailer Lush has avoided a
fine by the Information Commissioner’s Office in relation to a
security breach on its website between October 2010 and January
2011. The ICO found Lush to be in breach of the Data Protection
Act and that its measures to keep customers’ payment details
secure and monitor suspicious activity were insufficient. As a
result, the ICO has required Lush’s managing director Mark
Constantine to sign an undertaking promising that
“appropriate technical and organisational measures are
employed, and maintained, to prevent the unlawful processing of
customer data, particularly within web-based systems”. Lush
must also store just the minimum amount of personal data on
customers and this will be kept for no longer than is necessary.
Further, Lush must ensure that all future payment processing is
PCI compliant.

Maternity and womenswear label Isabella Oliver
recorded a 100 percent sales rise in July compared with the same
period last year. The strong performance gives the brand a
cumulative 35 percent sales growth in the year to date. The
strongest growth comes from the company’s 365 range, its
non-maternity womenswear collection.

Sainsbury’s has appointed Mark Horgan as
marketing director to lead its customer insights and loyalty,
brand communications and non-food marketing.

UK Point of Sale (UK POS), a b-to-b supplier of
point-of-sale shop displays and retail display products, has
appointed Steve Farrington as operations manager. Farrington was
previously distribution centre manager at
Regatta.
