Maternity wear retailer Mamas & Papas has
partnered with Tesco and Amazon
as it looks to evolve its eCommerce strategy. As of June 2012,
the entire Mamas & Papas range, excluding clothing, will be
available through Tesco Direct and Amazon Marketplace. In a
statement Rob Jennings, eCommerce director at Mamas & Papas,
says, “Simply put, Amazon is one of the world’s largest
high streets, enjoying up to half of the UK’s internet shopping
population on their site. And as a launch partner on Tesco’s new
marketplace model we are extremely excited about being a part of
the development of what is certain to be a huge online shopping
destination. Merchandising our products through these platforms
makes accessing our brand even more convenient. Both Amazon and
Tesco are super brands that we’re proud to work
with.”

HMV, the global entertainment retail chain, has
agreed to sell off its 9,000 seated venue Hammersmith Apollo to
Stage C for £32 million as part of a wider turnaround.
According to a report in the Guardian, HMV has said that once the deal has
been sealed the group will see £220 million in bank loans
extended to September 2014. HMV also revealed that the deal will
allow it to focus on retail, while the proceeds from the sale
will be used to reduce the group’s debt.

Drapers reports that womenswear and menswear
retailer Reiss has increased like-for-like
online sales by 84 per cent from last year after upping its
editorial content online. Reiss noted that returning visitors
make up 48 per cent of total visitors, up 20 per cent on last
year.

Sir Philip Green, the owner of shopping chains
Bhs, Topshop and
Burton, has threatened legal proceedings against
Asos for taking an “unfair advantage of
our trade mark”, according to a story in the Telegraph. Sir Philip Green sent a legal
letter to ASOS to immediately take down Topshop’s name from its
website, otherwise he would sue.
