Online marketplace Notonthehighstreet.com has
secured a £10 million investment in a series D funding round
that will enable it to develop its brand both in the UK and
overseas. Having recently launched multicurrency functionality on
its website, the investment is a vital step in enabling
Notonthehighstreet.com to reach consumers globally while growing
its business in the UK. The round was led by Fidelity Growth
Partners Europe (FGPE) and supported by previous investors, Index
Ventures and Greylock Partners. It will see Davor Hebel from FGPE
and Laurel Bowden from Greylock Partners join the board of
Notonthehighstreet.com.

Later this week Marks & Spencer is expected to
report pretax profits of £694 million this year, which the
Telegraph notes will be the reailer’s first
dip in three years and down from £714 million the previous
year. It writes, “Once Britain’s most profitable listed
retailer, and the first one to ever make more than £1
billion in a year, it is now predicted to make less money than
Tesco, Kingfisher,
Morrisons and
Sainsbury’s.”

Canon is set to invest up to £10 million in
high street camera retailer Jessops to protect
its market share. According to the Sunday Times, Canon will inject funds into
the ailing retailer, which reported a £12 million loss last
year on sales of £304 million.

Lush has come first in a Which? survey of the best shops, praised for
its “friendly and knowledgeable staff”. More than
11,000 shoppers took part in the survey, which ranks 100 of the
UK’s most popular shops based on how satisfied consumers were
with the shopping experience and how likely they were to
recommend the store to their friends. Following Lush were
John Lewis and Apple, with
Lakeland, Clarks,
Richer Sounds, and the Disney
Store also highly rated. WHSmith and
Halfords languished at the bottom of the table.

The Mirror reports that French
Connection may move away from using Royal
Mail for its online orders after the postal carrier put
up prices.
