The New York Post reports that French
conglomerate PPR is “close to selling the
profitable US division of Redcats”. The
mail order arm, which includes plus-size apparel websites
OneStopPlus and outdoor goods site
Sportsman’s Guide. According to the piece,
private-equity firms TPG, Leonard Green, Berkshire Partners and
CCMP are potential bidders.

ITV daytime TV show This Morning has
announced a product placement deal with DIY retailer
B&Q. The partnership sees B&Q install a kitchen
for This Morning to be used during the cooking section
of the show.

Frozen food specialist Iceland has appointed
Paul Foley to the position of international business director
with a brief to identify overseas opportunities for the
supermarket. He will take responsibility for the company’s new
retail operation in the Czech Republic. Foley has already begun
some projects for Iceland but joins full time in January 2013.

Footwear brand Skechers has launched an
affiliate marketing campaign to raise awareness and grow its
customer base across the UK and the US. The brand has teamed up
with performance network Affiliate Window to drive quality
traffic to its website.

The Olympics were not the retail boost the sector had hoped for.
UK retail sales values were down 0.4 per cent on a like-for-like
basis from August 2011, reports the British Retail Consortium.
Further, figures released in BDO’s August High Street Sales
Tracker show like-for-like sales at mid-tier retailers dipped by
0.5 per cent last month. Fashion sales were down 1.3 per cent
year-on-year, hampered by weather that was either too wet or too
hot to go shopping.

Ideal Shopping Direct, the TV-shopping retailer,
has launched a new channel called The Deal Channel. Broadcast for
the first time on 24th August, each show is 15 minutes long and
features exclusive offers on brands including
Apple, Clarins and
Gucci among others. In addition to being
broadcast round the clock on Sky 668, Freesat 811 and Freeview
39, The Deal Channel will also feature on ITV’s The Zone,
Freeview 39 between 6 pm and 10 pm.
