News roundup–RM and Lego, Aurora appoints Ladha

Educational software, services and systems supplier RM
Group and Lego Education are to form a
joint venture to exclusively distribute Lego Education products
to customers in the European educational market. RM will have
day-to-day operational control of the venture, and will hold
exclusive European education distribution rights for Lego
Education products initially for ten years from January
2011.

The high street is already gearing up for a VAT hike, according
to a report in the Telegraph. The newspaper claims that a
well-known retailer is telling its overseas supplier to start
adjusting prices to assume a VAT level of 20 per cent.

Aurora Fashions, which operates apparel brands
Coast, Karen Millen,
Oasis, and Warehouse has
appointed former ASOS.com marketing boss Hash
Ladha to the newly created role of group multichannel
director.

Cath Kidston, The White
Company, and Boden are name-checked in
a Telegraph article with the headline “The New
Posh takes charge”.

Organic food purveyors Riverford Organic and
Abel & Cole as well as children’s apparel
cataloguer Frugi are nominated in the Best
Online Retailer category at this year’s Observer Ethical Awards.
