A review of the management structure at mail order giant Shop Direct Group, which operates Littlewoods, Empire Stores and Great Universal, will see up to 100 management jobs lost and “a number of new roles” created according to a company statement. Group chief executive Mark Newton-Jones said that “the new organisational structure will better reflect the way we now wish to operate which is as an online rather than catalogue-based retailer”.

Shares at fashion etailer ASOS.com rose 7.25p to 358p in early trading this morning after the company’s AGM revealed that sales had doubled. This is one of the very few stocks that have seen a share price rise this year, noted Hemscott, adding that the price has more than tripled since this time last year.

Argos is looking for 15,000 temporary staff as it gears up for Christmas reports DIY Week. However, this figure actually represents a drop of 25 per cent on last year, which saw Argos‘s Christmas drive recruit 20,000 seasonal staff.

Pindar is to sell Cooper Clegg just 18 months after it bought the printer. According to Printweek Pindar is in “early discussions with a number of potential trade buyers although no deal has been secured”.
