The parent company of Littlewoods is said to be
looking to move away from manufacturing clothing in the Far East
and triple production on mainland Europe and Turkey. This is Money reports that rising costs in
China and India have made European production more competitive.
Commenting in the piece, Shop Direct’s chief
executive Mark Newton-Jones said “Orders from China can
take three times as long to deliver compared with Europe’s
periphery, and cost more to transport.”

At 1.15 pm yesterday, Britons spent £832,000 online in just

The Drinks Business reports that online wine
retailer Naked Wines will invest £10
million in the business next year. The fund will be raised by its
20,000 “Angel” customers who in effect sponsor the
winemakers producing the wines.

the launch of the mobile site in August, Halfords has seen mobile
visitor numbers increase to 8 per cent of Halfords’ online total.
Conversion levels have also doubled.
