Local Letterbox, the latest in the raft of customer not present delivery options has announced that it will be working with Norbert Dentressangle Transport & Distribution UK, which will supply logistics and infrastructure support when it launches its network of parcel shops and “parcelpods” later this year.
Local Letterbox claims to be the only dedicated network of its type in the UK, offering customers convenient collection, return and sending of parcels. Each of its outlets will have changing room facilities to facilitate trying on and immediately returning unsuitable garments. The service will be open to all consumers to use regardless of which carrier is used for their parcels and there will be no charge to the consumer over and above those charged to them by the retailer.
The rate of £2.99 is being quoted for fully tracked parcels weighing up to 20kg sent via Local Letterbox which expects to open around 500 shops by the end of the year. A month-long trial of the parcelpod took place in May/June at the head office of ASOS to allow its staff to experience the benefits.
