The board of Hotel Chocolat has announced that is seeking to raise around £50 million to fund its growth across all channels. The business, which was formed in 1993 and has seen both of its founders Peter Harris and Angus Thirlwell recognised with an ECMOD Lifetime Achievement Award, achieved sales of £81.1 million in the year for June 28th 2015. It operates a chain of 84 retail outlets, 81 in the UK and 3 in Denmark, as well as selling the range of chocolate it produces in its own facility via its website and via its tasting club. Commenting on the development Angus Thirlwell said: “We are very excited at the prospect of listing as it is the next logical step in our growth plans and will enable us to accelerate the many initiatives that we have in place, in particular additional investment in our British chocolate manufacturing, in new stores and in our digital offering.”
