Boohoo reports strong quarter

Revenues at Boohoo Group for the most recent quarter rose by 39 per cent to £254.3 million with the UK up by  27 per cent and international markets delivering 56 per cent growth. Boohoo itself generated £123.5 million with PrettyLittleThing coming in at £112.1 million and Nasty Gal up by 153 per cent to £18.2 million.

CEO John Lyttle commented: “The group has made a strong start to the year as we continue to disrupt and capture market share in the UK and internationally across all our brands.”

Meanwhile, a legal claim has been mounted against the business by a former IT contractor, Richard Womack who had provided IT services to the business and is now claiming £118.5 million and a 10 per cent stake on the basis that, in 2006, he was offered a ten per cent stake in return for his unpaid work (as the third founder of Boohoo) and that this had not been honoured.

The law firm acting for Mahmud Kamani who founded the business with Carol Kane stated: “Womack’s allegations are entirely without merit.”
