Royal Mail (RM) managers represented by Unite have backed industrial action as a response to RM’s proposed cuts to frontline delivery jobs and the terms of RM’s deployment plan which, the union says, will offer worse terms and conditions to affected employees.
It is understood that some 2400 managers spread across 1000 Royal Mail delivery offices are involved in the dispute and word is that strikes may take place in July.
Sharon Graham, Unite general secretary saud: “It is no surprise at all that these workers have voted overwhelmingly for industrial action.
“Make no mistake, Royal Mail is awash with cash – there is no need whatsoever to sack workers, drive down pay or pursue this ill-thought-out redeployment programme.”
