News roundup–Queen’s Award for Isabella Oliver and Book Depository, new chairman at Catalogue Exchange

House of Bath managing director Dara O’Malley
and Lands’ End UK and Europe managing director
Tim Curtis have been appointed chair and deputy chair of
Catalogue Exchange respectively. O’Malley succeeds White Stuff’s
Alison Lancaster, who steps down from the not-for-profit trade
body’s advisory board after approximately two years as
chair.

Congratulations to online book retailer The Book
Depository
and maternity cataloguer/etailer
Isabella Oliver for winning a 2010 Queen’s
Award. The Book Depository received the award for international
trade, whilst Isabella Oliver was recognised in the enterprise
category.

Lisa Morgan has stepped down from the position of chief executive
of Game Group, the video and PC games retailer
following a 10 percent sales decline, and a 28 drop in pretax
profit to £84 million. Game’s UK chief operating officer,
Terry Scicluna, has also announced his intentions to leave the
business. Responsibility for the UK operating activities will now
be handled by Martyn Gibbs, who was appointed Game Group’s UK and
Eire managing director last month. Nonexecutive director Chris
Bell is appointed interim CEO. The Times writes that the departure of Game’s
senior executives leaves the business “vulnerable to a
takeover approach”.
