Sales at DIY cataloguer Screwfix declined 3.6
percent in the 10 weeks to 10th July. At sister company
B&Q, total sales declined 3.5 percent during the
period. In a statement, Ian Cheshire, parent company Kingfisher’s
group chief executive, said the business was cautious about the
outlook for consumer spending and will continue to “focus on
carefully targeting our promotions to drive profitable sales,
improving our cash margins and vigorously controlling our
costs”.

John Lewis has launched a corporate sales
service called John Lewis Solutions for
Business
, which provides commercial furnishings for use
in show homes, halls of residences, hotel bedrooms, and
more.

Fair-trade goods cataloguer Traidcraft is quoted
in local news paper The Journal in an article about businesses
adopting the internet as a sales channel

The Financial Times reports that second-quarter
results at online marketplace eBay were boosted
by the performance of PayPal. The article also added that eBay is
doing well in the UK thanks to a recent overhaul, but that
performance is weaker in the US.
