ASDA CEO replaced by namesake

ASDA CEO replaced by namesake

Mere days since announcing that he had put a succession plan in place to fill the CEO role on his retirement, it emerges that Andy Clarke will step down at the end of next month, rather sooner than he had expected. Roger Burnley, who will shortly be joining ASDA as its chief operating officer, had been expected to succeed Clarke as CEO. However, reports are that Sean Clarke who currently heads parent company Walmart’s interests in China is making a return to the UK and will take the CEO role.

Andy Clarke has been with ASDA for twenty years having originally joined the business as retail director reporting to Andy Bond.
