Lands’ End moves international sites to the cloud

Following the successful trial launch of its Swedish website,
US-based apparel cataloguer Lands’ End is moving all its
international websites to Demandware’s cloud-based ecommerce
platform. In addition to Sweden, Lands’ End will roll out the
software-as-a-service platform for its Austria, Germany, France,
and UK businesses.

The project began in July 2010, with the Swedish site going live
three months later. During the pilot, Lands’ End evaluated how
the Demandware platform handled response time, ability to launch
by deadline, its compatibility with Lands’ End integrations and
the overall user experience.

The timescale for the European relaunch has not been unveiled,
but Steve Cretney, Land’s End chief information officer, hinted
that it won’t take long. In a statement he said, “the
launch of our Swedish site proved that the platform and the
cloud-based model would support and allow for the quick
deployments we were looking for to support our business
goals,” adding that the Lands’ End team now has the ability
to “easily launch multiple sites”.
