Park, a hamper, voucher and prepaid gift card
provider, is launching a European version of its
Love2Shop voucher following the acquisition of
the brand name and customer database of Dublin-based
Celtic Hampers and Family
Hampers
.
The deal, which will see Park pay up to €1 million
(£891.6 million) for the businesses dependent on them
meeting certain performance criteria, allows Park to broaden its
Christmas service range by launching into Ireland.
Celtic Hampers and Family Hampers have 4,000 agents with 25,000
customers and have secured orders totalling €10 million for
Christmas 2010, according to a company statement.

Royal Mail managers, represented by the Unite union are to be
balloted on whether to strike in a dispute over compulsory
redundancies. The union told the BBC that it was the first time in more than 30 years
that postal service managers were voting on holding
walkouts.

When personalisation doesn’t work: Scotts of
Stow
recently mailed 1.4 million copies of its Christmas
catalogues, but some residents on the Isle of Wight feared that
these personalised catalogues, which had the recipient’s name on
the front cover, featured the same names on the entire mailing.
Scotts of Stow had to apologise and explain that “the
catalogues were sent in the spirit of originality”.

Debenhams has launched a web TV channel to offer
behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from photo shoots,
fashion shows and launches. The retailer also plans to feature
personal shoppers and celebrity stylists who will give online
workshops on how to pick outfits for special occasions.
The channel is available on Debenhams’ website, through its
iPhone app, on Youtube, and soon in stores.
