As expected, DVD-rental chain Blockbuster has
filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US. A
spokesperson for the British arm of the business told the
Guardian that it was “not affected by the US
filing. The Blockbuster United Kingdom business is profitable,
cash generative and has substantial net assets.”

TP Toys, the owner of children’s outdoor apparel
catalogue Muddy Puddles, is featured in a
BBC news story about childhood obesity. The
reason: It is launching a new clothing range with bigger children
in mind.

Department store chain House of Fraser has seen
its profits boosted by sales on own-brand merchandise, reports
the Independent. The article also says that
online sales rose 150 percent, and that ecommerce was worth
