Electricals retailer Dixons Retail announced a
pretax loss of £224.1 million for the year ended 30th April
after racking up impairment charges for the closure of PC City in
Spain and charges related to restructuring. Excluding these
one-off costs, Dixons made a pretax profit of £85.3 million,
in line with expectations. Total group retail sales were
£8.15 billion, a like-for-like dip of 2 per cent. Online
sales accounted for £842.7 million, representing 16 per cent
of total sales.

Dixons’ group finance director Nicholas Cadbury
has resigned and will join electronic components distributor
Premier Farnell as chief financial officer in
September.

CSN Stores, the US-based online retailer and
operator of 200 niche sites including
Cookware.com and
BedroomFurniture.com, has raised $165 million
(£103 million) from four private equity and venture capital
firms. The company says will use the funds to rebrand as
Wayfair.com, expand locally and internationally,
as well as acquire other businesses. CSN first opened a European
office in
2008
.
