News roundup–government closes LVCR loophole, more

Guernsey and Jersey have lost their battle to stop the government
scrapping low-value consignment relief. In a statement, Jersey’s
economic development minister senator Alan Maclean said he was
considering lodging an appeal to overturn the High Court’s
decision. Deputy Carla McNulty Bauer minister for commerce and
employment for Guernsey added she was very disappointed with the
outcome, and warns it “could well have a major impact on
jobs and the economy of the Channel Islands”.

Apparel trade magazine Drapers reports that staff at fashion
retailer Jaeger have been put under consultation
as the business undergoes a review. “The review does not
necessarily mean redundancies,” according to the article,
but it is understood that some 150 roles at the head office are
subject to review.
