A post on the company’s Facebook page has fuelled speculation that Avon-owned beauty brand Liz Earle is looking to shed jobs. The brand’s eponymous founder posted a note on the social network announcing her resignation as a company director but stressed she is “committed to seeing the company grow and maintain its core values”. She added, “I will be working as many days as the business needs me”. A statement from the company went on to confirm that it is “reviewing the infrastructure to ensure world-class resources are in place for future growth. A consolidation of roles, improvement in working processes and effectiveness are key priorities.” As part of this review, there will be a consultation process regarding jobs, which is expected to conclude within 30 days. Liz Earle cofounder Liz Buckley ended her involvement with the business in September 2012.

Multichannel golf retailer Direct Golf UK has made a positive start to the new financial year with sales for the month of October up 18 per cent year-on-year. Mail-order sales for October 2012 were up 14 per cent, retail store sales up 19 per cent, while online sales are up over 26 per cent year-on-year.

Fairtrade organisation Traidcraft has confirmed chief executive Paul Chandler is leaving the business at t the end of March 2013. During his eleven years at the helm of Gateshead-based Traidcraft, trading turnover has grown from £8 million to £17 million. He moves on to the next stage of his career, building a portfolio of nonexecutive roles. Traidcraft’s board has approved its business director of seven years, Mags Vaughan, as acting chief executive from April 2013 until a new Chief executive is appointed.

The Sunday Times reports that the owner of apparel chain Monsoon Accessorize has threatened to shut down some of its 400 stores because of “exorbitant rates and rents [that] are throttling the high street”. The piece looks also looks at survival measures to save the high street.
