News roundup–The Hut, Ironmongery Direct, Notonthehighstreet

TheHut.com has launched a trade-in service for
electrical items and entertainment products including CDs, DVDs
and games. The new site, called TheHutRecycle.com, allows users
to exchange their unwanted tech goods in return for vouchers to
spend at TheHut.

Gifts etailer Notonthehighstreet says it has
received more than double the number of Christmas gifts-related
keyword visitors compared with this time last year. Holly Tucker,
cofounder, says there are “many contributing factors to the
growth in Christmas visitors that we have been experiencing since
September. From cautious shoppers who remember the chaos the bad
weather brought last year, to the super-organised customers who
want to have all of their Christmas shopping finished in
advance.”

Ironmongery Direct, cataloguer/online retailer
of ironmongery products, officially opened its new purpose-built
50,000 sq-ft premises in Basildon yesterday. The new premises,
along with new business-management systems, represent an
investment of more than £2.5 million. The additional space
will enable the business to increase product lines offered to
20,000 within the next four years and further enhance its
next-day delivery service. The new site will also house a trade
counter, enabling local tradesman to access 11,500 in-stock
products.
