News roundup—TP Toys buys Muddy Puddles, Cdiscount falls into administration, more

TP Toys, a manufacturer/marketer of
trampolines and other outdoor toys, acquired Muddy
Puddles, a cataloguer of outerwear for children.

Cdiscount has fallen into administration,
according to Bitter Wallet. The
discount etailer, which sells in Ireland and the UK, was
launched two years ago by French discounter Cdiscount SA, which
owns 50 per cent of the company. Cdiscount has debts of
€8.2 million (£7.4 million).

Like-for-like October retail sales were up 3.8 per cent from
last year, according to the British Retail Consortium-KPMG Sales
Monitor for the month. Nonfood nonstore sales rose 18 per cent
from the previous October.

Four managers who lost their jobs when Health & Home
Shopping fell into administration two years ago were
awarded £190,000 in damages from Findel,
which acquired the business, and administrator Deloitte, reports
Crain’s
Manchester Business.
